Confined at home, not being able to reach out to friends and teachers physically in their schools- their second home! being compelled to learn online & stuck up at one place for so many months have put the children in a very strange situation.

Excellent work being done by the teachers to compile and deliver online lectures during the period of lockdown despite several constraints is really praiseworthy. At this stage there is no other option but to impart online education. Though almost everyone involved – children, teachers, parents and others, have adapted well to remote learning but learning in this mode for such extended period of time is definitely not a long-term solution.

Despite best efforts by the teachers, online teaching has its limitations. In certain fields like science lab, sports field & cultural activities, physical presence is must for proper appreciation and meaningful learning. Further, students are feeling lonely and stressed having remained under lockdown since March. They are longing to come to school. There is no substitute to physical class room teaching and co-scholastic activities. Further for the overall development of the children, class room teaching which allows them to interact with the teachers and fellow students and physical activity is necessary.

Online classes have also put the under-privilege students at a disadvantage. Though schools have made efforts to extend whatever possible help and facilitate the devices and connectivity, attending the online classes and reaching out to all of them is quite a task. The schools are making sincere efforts and quality education has been the watchword but nonetheless there are many constraints.

Let’s hope that COVID 19 comes under control and physical classes commence at the earliest possible. Re-opening of the schools and children coming to schools at the earliest is being eagerly awaited. Schools are ready to welcome back the children. Top best school in Delhi have put in place all relevant safety precautions. Children are also rearing their heads to fly back to school, to be in the midst of their buddies, fellow classmates and loving teachers. During the online classes, teachers are able to understand the desperation of these young children wanting to feel the pulse of actual in-person classes and be back to school. Teachers are able to sense the inconvenience being faced by some children as their parents are now joining back their offices, while they are left alone at home to manage for themselves their online classes.

Private schools have metamorphosed pretty fast and are emerging well prepared for this new situation with all possible steps to provide the highest level of sanitization and cleanliness.
