Summer Vacation is the much-awaited time of the year for children, in fact, for almost everyone. Summer in Delhi is the hottest stretch of time; however, the silver lining is that children get a long vacation. It gives sufficient leisure time to do things of their choice – a perfect time to relax and have fun, especially after the pressure of the annual examination. The happiest time for students to break away from the normal tight routine of school. Time to do and be as one likes.
Make a list of things you intend to do and gather ideas to keep yourself well balanced. Though it is time to let go and not stick to strict schedules, you will benefit from a bit of structure even while being free. Hence it is very important to divide your day into manageable chunks of time.
Dear children, you need to understand that the summer holidays are not supposed to be spent only staying indoors, watching TV or getting lost in mindlessly scrolling the screen of your phones and watching videos endlessly. Getting up from bed, straightening your room, sorting and organizing your books and clothes, can be done at a slower pace but they must be a part of your daily routine.
Trying Something New. Expanding one’s knowledge and boundaries, surprising oneself with one’s own newfound talent and discovering what gives you happiness would definitely be a very thrilling and refreshing experience.
Join Summer Camps. One also gets to enjoy and have a great time by joining summer camps. Go for some adventure sports too. These kinds of memories last forever. Holidays are intended to be out of the usual, sameness is no fun. One must broaden one’s perspective and knowledge.
Get Closer to Nature. Taking care of plants enables a better understanding of nature and if you have a small garden, nothing like it. You can grow a variety of herbs, shrubs, trees and other plants. During the summer holidays, you need to expose yourselves to nature. Do not hesitate to soil your hands and feet.
Read. Take advantage of these days to read books of your choice. Reading stories and novels is so much interesting and an excellent way to develop vocabulary, imagination, comprehension and later creative writing. Don’t race through everything. Everything is experienced better at a relaxed pace.
Write Journals and Diaries. Write journals and diaries as it entails writing about one’s feelings and thoughts. This will also assist you in improving on self-reflection.
Connect with your Greater Family. The summer holiday is the time to also make a memorable time with the greater family- grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins and all. Visiting new places or one’s native home towns and spending time together is always priceless. Make beautiful memories that last for a lifetime, since there is nothing more important than family.
Learn some basic life skills. Cooking is an important skill, be it for a boy or a girl. Learning this skill is very crucial as it will come in handy in future especially if you happen to go abroad for higher studies. Learn baking too. Cycling, swimming, new language, playing any musical instruments, painting, dancing etc. will always be very useful.
Compile all your captured memories. Making a scrapbook with your favourite images captured may be of your pots and plants, interesting things you happened to come across or maybe the cake that you baked successfully or not so successfully etc. will all be cherished memories. Be able to appreciate the blessed moments and beauty of the world.
Explore your own city. Depending upon the age, small trips to explore your city can be made- such as to a zoo, museum, planetarium, watch a show on the solar system. Plan such trips with your friends. You will have good fun.
Summer cleaning. During school days, you might not get a chance to look into the deeper cleaning of your wardrobes and cupboards but on vacations, one should take the time out to complete any pent-up work that needs looking into. You tend to lose the respect of people who do not bother to even keep their own house neat and clean.
In today’s world, as man has been able to get almost everything in his control, he tends to forget God and perceive himself as being invincible. But one needs to understand being in conversation with God is a really peaceful experience. Never forget to thank and be grateful to the Almighty. Happy Holidaying!
