With the arrival of October and a modest dip in temperature, the happy festive spirit is felt all around, as everyone is warming up for the festivities ahead. October marks the beginning of the enormous splendour of festivals <\/strong>in India<\/strong>. It is an ideal time to feel the pulse of the incredible diversity of India<\/strong>, as the wide variety of cultural and religious festivals<\/strong> that are celebrated<\/strong> in various ways throughout the country<\/strong> can be seen and enjoyed. October undoubtedly ushers in a season of vibrant festivities and exuberant celebrations<\/strong> that paint the country<\/strong> in hues of joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

India<\/strong> is renowned for its many joyous festivals<\/strong>; in fact, they have become a part of our life and the environment in which we have grown up. Festivals<\/strong> are observed for more than simply cultural or religious reasons. Festivals<\/strong> provide the public with much more; they foster a feeling of camaraderie, bring people together<\/strong> and create a sense of belonging in the community<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though we all love festivals,<\/strong> they are most enjoyed by children<\/strong> in particular.  October is the month children<\/strong> eagerly wait as their mid-term exams get over and the upcoming festivals<\/strong> offer much-needed respite from the monotony of hectic routine. For them, a festival <\/strong>is an occasion to celebrate<\/strong> with lights, treats, gifts, and other activities. The celebration<\/strong> of festivals,<\/strong> however, offers a wealth of educational opportunities for children<\/strong>. Festivals<\/strong> have the power to mould children<\/strong> into happy, social beings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our age-old traditions have given the country<\/strong> a variety of festivals<\/strong> and fairs. Many tourists travel to India<\/strong> to observe the numerous festivals <\/strong>and take part in the celebration<\/strong> and merry-making. Every celebration<\/strong>, whether it be Holi, Dusshera, Diwali, Christmas, Eid, or Gurupurb,<\/strong> involves people gathering together<\/strong> and helping one another in having a wonderful time. Children<\/strong> are taught the value of community<\/strong> and the fun of teamwork. Children<\/strong> who participate in festival<\/strong> preparations make a place for themselves in the community<\/strong> of people. Together<\/strong>, they discover how to collaborate with everyone and successfully celebrate<\/strong> as a group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having the entire family<\/strong> together<\/strong> to celebrate<\/strong> a belief is another benefit of festivals.<\/strong> All members of the family<\/strong> work together<\/strong> at home to prepare meals and other preparations related to the festival.<\/strong> Children<\/strong> spend time together<\/strong> and, in the process, strengthen their bonds with their family<\/strong> – with their grandparents, cousins, and other relatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festivals <\/strong>also involve sharing and exchanging gifts. Children<\/strong> are taught to share joys during festivals<\/strong> through the gift-exchange custom. Children<\/strong> spread the festive <\/strong>cheer by giving gifts and treats to family<\/strong> and friends. Children<\/strong> learn<\/strong> to share and care when they donate or give gifts to the less fortunate, to those who would not be able to celebrate<\/strong> such festivals<\/strong> without their support. This instils in them the value of kindness and humility. They also learn<\/strong> to express gratitude for their possessions and blessings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Festivals<\/strong> are a wonderful method to learn<\/strong> about other cultures. During festivals<\/strong> and celebrations<\/strong>, children<\/strong> learn<\/strong> more about their own culture and their nation. They learn<\/strong> about their global roots as they observe people celebrating<\/strong> their festivals<\/strong> all across the world. They become more appreciative of their nation and culture as a result. Festivals<\/strong> are the time of year when historical tales are brought to light to educate youngsters about the past and help them appreciate the value of celebration<\/strong> across generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best thing about festivals<\/strong> is they unite people from diverse cultures and groups. They bind us all with the joyous thread of happiness and celebrations<\/strong>, peace and unity. Festivals<\/strong> teach some deeper lessons about life also. Even as the youngsters enjoy themselves during festivities, they unconsciously learn<\/strong> beautiful, priceless and enduring lessons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
