Lohri, a time to sit together, shell peanuts, indulge in season's comfort food “ gajak, til, puffed rice, rewri and chikki, have delightful conversations, sitting huddled around a cozy bonfire. It is a popular winter time Punjabi folk festival, celebrated to offer prayers and thanks to God for the crops before harvesting them. It also marks the end of the winter season, and is a traditional welcome of longer days.
It was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the students from Nursery - Grade III at Prudence School, Dwarka 16B on 11th January, 2019. The day began by creating awareness among the students about the significance of the most-awaited Punjabi festival through discussions, sharing and audio visuals clips through which students totally absorbed in the festive spirit of the festival. Students sang traditional Punjabi sang songs and danced around the bonfire which immersed everyone in the rich cultural folklore of Punjab. It ended with the wish that may Lohri fire burn all the sadness and brings joy, happiness and love for everyone.
