Our respectable and spirited Prime Minister ,Narendra Modi launched the Fit India Movement' on 29th August, 2019 with an aim to make physical activities and sports a part of daily life of the citizens. The event was held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi, directly telecast on Doordarshan between 10am and 11am. The students of Prudence School, Dwarka Sector 22 witnessed the live telecast with gusto.
After a colourful presentation of India's indigenous martial art forms, dances and sports, our respected Prime Minister paid tribute to the hockey wizard, Dhyan Chand who astounded the world with his fitness, fortitude and the skills of a proficient player.
During the event, the PM addressed people and also administered the participants a fitness pledge. Citing examples of people in the past, our honourable Prime Minister said, A few decades back, a normal person would walk 8-10 km in a day, do cycling or run. We walk less now and the same technology tells us that we are not walking enough. Laying emphasis on a vigorous lifestyle, he congratulated the winners of the national sports awards and lauded India's sporting achievements.
The magnetic oration by the knowledgeable Prime Minister, known for his witty remarks appealed every citizen to remain healthy and fit reducing the desk bound lifestyle. It was a stimulating campaign for all alike, women, children, young and old.
