Assembly on International Poverty Eradication Day
Prudence School Dwarka 22 organized a special assembly on International Poverty Eradication Day with the aim to spread awareness about the need to end global poverty in all its forms everywhere.
Students of senior grades advocated the message - 'Extreme poverty anywhere is a threat to human security everywhere.'They foregrounded the struggles of poor people and conveyed the message that poverty is like punishment for a crime you didn't commit. As said by Mahatma Gandhi, Poverty is the worst form of violence. Reiterating the words of the father of our nation, the students emphasized the significance of International Poverty Eradication Day '.They disseminated essential information about the research work of Indian-American Abhijit Banerjee, his wife Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer who have jointly won the much coveted 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty. They also conducted a quiz with an aim to further accentuate the need to end global poverty.
The efforts of the senior grade students for sensitizing the young minds about the hardships of the poor people and for highlighting the valuable research work of the Nobel Laureates to alleviate poverty were appreciated by one and all.
